Hi! We are Agata, Judyta, and Adrian (from right to left), a trio with great passion
for smart and sustainable architecture and design.
We truly believe that by making use of technological advances and of cutting-edge
methods, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning,
we can make architecture resource and energy efficient.
Our goal is to limit the costs of a building during its lifetime,
when it actually consumes the most of it (!), by reducing the energy it requires
for everyday operations – for heating, air-conditioning, lighting, etc..
The idea for Parametric Support was first spoken out loud in 2015 in Wellington, New Zealand, by Judyta Cichocka, a researcher in optimization techniques in architecture. Judyta was investigating alternative approaches to solving optimization problems and so she invited Agata Migalska, a computer scientist and an experienced software developer, to jointly work on the first implementation of Swarm Intelligence to design practice. The outcome of this collaboration was Silvereye, a plugin for Grasshopper, that demonstrated to be 20 times faster than predominant genetic approach to solving complex optimization problems (Cichocka et al. 2017). (Visit our Optimization page to read more about it.)
Soon afterwards, Judyta invited Adrian Krężlik, a practicing architect, an ambassador of parametric approach, educator and promoter of new technologies in design field, to join forces and start a new business venture offering novel technologies to achieve smart and sustainable architecture.
Our trio soon succeeded in drumming up financial support for our idea from German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. In November 2016 Parametric Support opened its start-up door in the heart of Berlin – a city bustling with innovation, technical novelty and knowledgeable people.
Judyta is a leader of the Project Department, PhD candidate in Architectural Design Optimization (ADO), founder of Code of Space – a firm running parametric trainings, the main partner of Absolute Joint System. She tutored on optimization at Victoria University of Wellington & at the most renown conferences on computational design such as: Advances of Architectural Geometry 2014 and 2016, CAADRIA 2017 in China. Judyta received Minister of Education’s award for outstanding scientific achievements for doctoral students in 2016 and she is a Fulbright Graduate scholar 2017. Judyta has established numerous collaborations with universities, research centers in Austria, Italy, UK, Poland, Australia, New Zealand and Russia. She collaborated with industrial partners in order to introduce novelty into well-established markets of steel design.
Tasks: leading projects, preparing the trainings content, tutoring courses, representing the company at scientific conferences, research on ADO
Adrian is a practising architect and a creative entrepreneur with 6 years of postgraduate experience. He worked with the most prestigious architectural practices such as Zaha Hadid Architects (large-scale projects in China, Saudi Arabia and Europe), Rojkind Arquitectos (commercial in Mexico and USA ), and for Fernando Romero (office and hotel projects in Latin America).
After coming back to Europe he founded Architektura Parametryczna, an educational platform which is now the biggest among architects and in Poland. Further, he strengthens his position tutoring and lecturing at events such as: Belgrade International Architecture Week, Bratislava Design Days, Gdynia Design Days, Archiday, OSSA, eCAADe and at the universities in Berlin, Bratislava, Warsaw, Krakow to name a few. Adrian also writes to architectural magazines. As an expert or partner he collaborates with the biggest architectural software developers such as Nemetschek, Graphisoft and McNeel.
Agata is an IT specialist with 9 years of commercial experience in programming, computer system design and team management. Agata is also a PhD candidate in computer science in the field of statistical image processing at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Poland.
In her professional career Agata has designed and developed large enterprise systems (PKP Intercity, TNT, Polish Ministry of Administration and Digitization) and e-commerce solutions (Medicalanimal.com, Evanscycles.com). She has also worked on scientific projects on image processing, optimization, and human-computer interaction. She has collaborated with researchers from Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Agata is an advocate of agile methodology and a Certified ScrumMaster.
Tasks: research on algorithms and applications of optimization techniques to the concerns of sustainable architecture, software design and development.
